MUSIC: Girl power
MEL C is sure to feel at home when she comes to Glasgow to perform at the city's top teen-fest on Sunday, June 26 as Girl Power is set to make an almighty comeback
With 35,000 fans expected to flock to Hampden Park, this year's Live and Loud is set to be the best yet. Dominated by the fairer sex, the fifth year of Glasgow's biggest summer music event includes acts ranging from the pure pop of Rachel Stevens to the cool indie sound of KT Tunstall.
Ex-opera prodigy-turned-newcomer to the pop scene, Charlotte Church is also set to make an appearance with veteran Mel C, who has been in the music industry since the Spice Girls formed in 1996.
Voted Glamour Woman of the Year, the first to perform at the event will be Rachel Stevens so fans will have to be there early to catch her. The sassy singer has had the most successful solo career of all her former band mates since the demise of S Club 7. Her debut single Sweet Dreams My LA Ex was an immediate hit and she has followed suit with More, More, More, Some Girls and Negotiate With Love. Her next single, So Good, is released on July 4.
KT Tunstall can't seem to stay away from Glasgow, having played at Carling Academy just last month.
RACHEL STEVENS has proved there is life after S Club 7
The Edinburgh born singer/songwriter has gone from strength to strength following the release of her debut track Black Horse And The Cherry Tree, which features on her album Eye To The Telescope.
Her latest release, Other Side of the World, has also proved that the feisty singer will not be labelled a one-hit wonder.
She's also set to play at another of Scotland's largest music events, T in the Park.
The youngest of the girls, Charlotte Church became an overnight phenomenon at the tender age of 13 after the release of classical album Voice of An Angel.
The Cardiff-born singer is now keen to pursue a pop career with her catchy tune Crazy Girl, set to be released the day after the concert.
MEL C has emerged as the most credible of the Spice Girls
With a new image and new boyfriend to show off, Charlotte is moving on and is keen for her wide fan base to accompany her.
Mel C, one of the most acclaimed female contemporary artists, had to cancel her last Glasgow appearance due to illness but is now fighting fit and ready to rock the crowd with songs from her new album Beautiful Intentions.
CHARLOTTE CHURCH is aiming for a new pop career
With Natalie Imbruglia also on board, the male performers, including Daniel Bedingfield and McFly, should be prepared for female domination as the pop princesses are united.
SCOTTISH singer KT Tunstall will also be playing T in the Park
